I have a new dirty guilty love…

I have discovered a new love which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy but a little bit dirty when I’m tilting - shortstacking 10/20nl 6-max games.

My intial “Tilt Plan” was to play 25nl at 100/100. I attempted this and it was a lot of fun. Here are my results (I think I timed out on some hands and/or got some walks accounting for the 96/95 instead of 100/100).

With really good table selection, I honestly think there is a decent chance I could run PT green playing 25nl at 100/100 - the only thing that might kill long-term results would be the high rake.

In any case, I found something much more fun and is far more effective at inducing tilt, which, at the end of the day, is really my aim with these little games. Short-stacking hyper-aggressive 10/20nl 6-max games with 10bb buyins.

First, let me state that I do believe that all shortstackers are basically scum for what they do the game. But when something is this fun, I can’t really be blamed. And the fact that the vast majority of poker players have ABSOLUTELY no idea about how to play a shortstack means it’s really their fault that I get to do it so successfully. It’s also the poker sites’ fault for letting people buyin for 20bb or, in some cases, 10bb. In addition, most poker sites let you rathole after only a short period of time and, in the case of some sites, immediately.

All that aside, there is a simple purity to shortstacking morons who get frustrated and continually give you massively +EV situations. It really is simply better than sex. Definitely poker crack. I’m totally addicted.

I upswung hard early then lost six 65/35’s in a row to finish.

PRTY closed at 37.25p last night! As DanG would say, “Ship it holla shareaments!”

Ding Ding the Upswing continues….

Currently in the biggest upswing of my life I think. This is my last two sessions - about 4k hands.

This doesn’t include a sick joke session on Bodog (my Dogwatch Handgrabber isn’t working) where I won about 6k in 1500 hands at 3/6nl. I’m running at something like 35bb/100 for my last 5000 hands of 3/6. Sick.

Ding Ding DING….

“I’m sexy, I’m cute! I’m popular to boot!
I’m bitchin’, great hair! The boys all love to stare!
I’m wanted, I’m hot! I’m everything your not!
I’m pretty, I’m cool! I DOMINATE the school!”

Kissinger said power was the great aphrodisiac, but Kissinger was a moron. WINNING is better!

Prior to the last fortnight, I have been in some version of hell. I would get my money in good a lot…and lose. I would get my money in bad a lot…and lose. Every muppet and his dog told me I should move down from 5/10 and 10/20nl but I didn’t listen. I finally moved down out of sheer frustration, and my luck almost immediately changed. I’ve played a record number of hands (for me) in the last week, and I don’t think I’ll go back to 5/10 or 10/20 anytime soon. It’s really amazing how well you can play when your mind is stress-free and you’re not under complete pressure as you are when all your opponents know you’re running bad…

I’m up about 15k in the last week, almost primarily from 2/4 and 3/6nl, and it’s so so so refreshing to be winning again.

Results from last week:

5/10nl - 333 hands - $1882 profit - 28.3bb/100

3/6nl - 15124 hands - $12,665 profit - 7bb/100

2/4nl - 1475 hands - $1809 profit - 15.3bb/100

I’m still heaps down for the year as I lost so much at 10/20 - I’m not good enough to beat that game yet, but the vast majority of my losses came in soft games in sick spots. For example, at the height of my downswing, I lost a 9k pot with AK on a KK6 board after I 4-bet pot preflop on the button. If you’re good enough to put him on 66 there, you’re way better than I am. Anyway, screw 10/20nl - sick joke rigged game. I can grind 2/4 and 3/6 and be happy…

My stats for 2007 look like this now (only estimates for 10/20 play as I only played that game at Mansion and no PT at Mansion yet - I estimate I’m around 25k down at 10/20nl this year):

5/10nl - 10,934 - $482 profit - 0.2bb/100

3/6nl - 15124 hands - $12,655 profit - 7bb/100

2/4nl - 1475 hands - $1809 profit - 15.3bb/100

The most pleasing thing for me is my PT stats are now 21/16 almost across the board, which I think pulls me out of the ‘nit’ category.

I ran so good last night I won even when I lost. I raised on the button with J9s and the SB 3-bet. The BB flat-called and I also called the reraise. The flop was Td8c2h. SB led out weak, the BB folded, so I raised close to pot, hoping to take it down there. The SB immediately called. I know I’m up against AA or a set here for sure once he called. I’m praying for a Q or 7 as I know we’ll get it all in on the turn if this happens. The turn is Qc. SB checks, I bet strong, he check-raises and I push with the nuts, knowing I’ll have to dodge his boat outs on the river. He calls with 88 and the pot is 420bb. The river is a T, and I’m a little disappointed when it hits, but have been running good so can’t really complain. The pot slides to me, however. I’m like “wtf” (I’m very drunk by this stage of course). The other guy says nothing, and I’m stunned. I’m timing out on my other tables trying to work out what is going on, when I realise it was the Tc, and I’ve hit a runner runner straight flush. Ding!

As seems to happen when you’re running good, everything else starts falling into place also. PartyGaming releases their annual report on 01 March, and the news is that it’s going to be awesome. The market anticipation has driven the share price up to 35.75p (at time of writing), which means I’ve made about 20k or so (on paper) in the last week thanks to PRTY. It will probably crack 40p within the next fortnight, which will be so sexy if it can manage that. We’ve been almost bust on it twice now after setting our CFD stop at 25p.

I’m going to the Caribbean for cricket’s World Cup in April and then moving to Manila in the Philippines after that, so I’m pretty excited.

Latin girls + Manila girls = <3 (not fully sure what <3 means yet, but I've seen it a lot on 2+2 and I think it means AWESOME).

Random Thoughts 1

I’ve been running ok at 3/6nl in the past week, but tonight was just ridiculous. I stacked 6 regulars early and I was never ahead when the money went in, although 4 out of the 6 were basically racing when I pushed or called a push. This one regular who is way better than me (I don’t know why he is playing 3/6) had caught me raising with rags 3 times in a row and 3-bet me out of the blinds and I couldn’t pull the trigger on a 4-bet. He 3-bet me for a 4th time and I 4-bet with AKs and he pushed and I had to call. His KK was toast when I flopped my flush. I stacked him a few hands later again when my gutshot flush draw hit against his TPTK, and he then went on pretty heavy tilt after that, which I had never seen him do (maybe that’s why he only plays 3/6). I stacked him in weird situations (for him) another couple of times (he tripled barrelled AQs after I called behind with AK on a King-high flop), and he then had the discipline to close all his tables down - a pattern I have found myself in repeatedly in the last month or so, and it was nice to be on the other side of it.

I spent most of the day trying to find the Danielli Cicarelli (Ronaldo’s ex-gf) beach video that a Brazilian judge ordered off YouTube. I had no luck. If anyone knows where to find it, pls let me know.

Here are some random thoughts for you to ponder:

Does OMGClayAiken have the best name in online poker?

Do guys who tuck the front of their shirts into their jeans to expose their belt buckle know how stupid they look?

Why do good-looking musicians do country music or pop? Why do you have to be ugly to be in a successful rock or punk band?

Do postflop donk bettors who 3-bet me deserve the same kind of hell usually reserved for people like Saddam and Pol Pot?

Is Justin Timberlake nothing more than a ‘white’ Usher?

Is Jamie Gold the product of inbreeding?

Where is that weird kid that was in all Nelly Furtado’s initial film clips from her first album?

Speaking of Nelly Furtado, she is hot. Here is her latest ditty - Cleopatra frindges are really pretty awesome.

My PRTY shares have bounced back so hard in the last week and are currently trading at 33.5p, which is ridiculously awesome. They release their annual trading update on 01 Mar and reports are that it will be awesome news for shareholders. If it is great news as expected, the shares will bounce up even more, but most of the last week’s gains are due to market anticpation of this report.

British actor Ralph Fiennes is awesome. A Qantas flight attendant has been sacked after she was caught leaving the plane’s cubicle with Ralph. You rock Ralph!

No quality poker crack for you today as I haven’t been doing much lately - I decided to drop down to 3/6 after getting SPANKED for the last couple months at 5/10 and 10/20nl. Each of my sessions was starting to follow a distinct path:

1. I would start out playing well.

2. I would get a bad beat and/or get frustrated by light 4-bettors.

3. I would tilt.

Result: SPANKED

3/6nl is pretty soft I think and I even played some 2/4nl today, which is an absolute cake game I think.

This kind of stuff appeared to be fairly commonplace. In another hand, my opponent got in 150bb’s on the flop/turn with J9 on a 9 high flop with no draw, which was pretty hot.

I’m moving to Manila in Philippines in April as that city is pretty awesome. The main reason I’m moving there is so I don’t ever have to cook or clean again. On my way there, I’m going to take a detour through the Caribbean for the cricket World Cup, which should be a ball. I’ve always wanted to go to the Dominican Republic, so I’m pretty happy that I finally get to do that.
